With plenty of attention committed to our community and the environment, Vassallo Group is proud to be extremely CSR conscious and plans to dedicate even more resources to it in the future.
By committing to an in-house CSR programme, the group aims to offset some of their effects on the world, while also generally improving corporate practices. Across the globe, CSR is seen as a positive initiative that really can make a change to the way businesses and their employees carry out their work.
CSR Initiatives undertaken by the Group
- The Arkati Foundation is an internal charity run by Vassallo Group. Employees are invited to make donations to the charity, which then utilises the funds to help other employees who have been affected by extenuating circumstances, such as illness, the death of a relative, or other misfortune.
- The Nazzareno Vassallo Award was created to honour a person who excels in services to the elderly within the community. Nominations are organised and received through the relevant local council, and the winner is given a trophy in recognition of their work.
- The Group participated in HSBC’s CSR Day for the first time in 2011. This event is specifically geared towards helping institutions within the community. This time around it was St Joseph’s Home in Santa Venera that felt the benefit of this valuable initiative, when 20 companies pooled their skills to transform the bedrooms of the 18 boys living there.
- At CareMalta, staff regularly hold ‘dress down’ days and dedicate a number of hours towards raising money for a worthy cause. Most recently, funds were donated to the Malta Hospice Movement.
- To give back to the community by way of beautifying the environment, 65 trees were planted by employees from different sectors within the group as part of the 65th anniversary celebrations.
- On Mr Nazzareno Vassallo’s initiative, employees are asked to donate blood annually.
