Vassallo Group has kept a long-standing tradition of celebrating International Women’s Day where around 150 women including directors, managers and employees from across the group as well as external stakeholders were invited to a reception. The event, hosted by Vassallo Group CEO Pio Vassallo was held at the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry on the 8th of March.
Mr Pio Vassallo shared an interesting message with stories from his childhood and upbringing where his sisters were always just as assertive and successful as the brothers, if not more dominant he joked. He congratulated his sister Natalie Briffa Farrugia for her great achievement of winning the first ever ‘Business Woman of the Year Award’ last month as CareMalta’s CEO as well as his younger sister Dr Charlene Vella Vassallo for achieving her Masters in Human Rights and also raising three young children full-time. His gratitude and respect towards his mother was very evident as he spoke of her as the backbone of the family who was and is always there to give her love and support. Mrs Briffa Farrugia also said a few words following her brother’s message.
An interesting video was played where women from different companies within the group spoke about their personal views on finding balance between their work and personal lives in light of this year’s theme #BalanceForBetter.
Dr Roberta Lepre, Human Rights lawyer was invited as special guest on this occasion and delivered a message too.
Her Excellency the President of Malta Marie Louise Coleiro Preca was special guest of honour on this occasion. She spoke about challenges we are facing such as the gender pay gap but also stated women of the group should be thankful to be working with a ‘Gender Equality Employer’
Andreana Debattista and her band entertained the guests and all the women were presented with a special gift in line with the group’s effort to introduce various green initiatives. The reception was catered by CaterEssence, Vassallo Group’s catering arm.
